My 4-hour course covers everything from Utah specific law to hands-on safety protocols. I pride myself on making the process as seamless as possible. When you leave, your application will be 100% "mail-ready"—I provide the fingerprinting, passport photos, and the envelope. No extra appointments required. Come with questions, leave with confidence! After completing your course, you will receive a signed and stamped application packet. You can submit this to the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) either by mailing it or dropping it off in person. Submission & Fees If you choose to mail your packet, ensure you apply the correct postage. The application fee is processed once the BCI receives your paperwork. Residency Status Application Fee Utah Resident $53.25 Non-Resident $63.25 Note: Fees are subject to occasional legislative changes; check the bottom of your specific application for the most current amount. You may pay via credit/debit card, check, or money order. Renewal & Validity • Duration: Your permit is valid for five years. • Easy Renewal: You can renew your permit online before it expires. This process is simple and does not require you to retake the training course. • Expiration Warning: If you allow your permit to expire completely, you will be required to attend a new BCI-certified course and re-apply from scratch.
